十年前，我在乡村高中担任英语教师时，面对的学生基础相当薄弱——他们甚至会写出 "you is" 这样的句子，单词读不准，就用中文谐音标注，靠死记硬背（rote learning）勉强度日。那样的学情之下，老师大部分精力都花在讲单词语法上，很难顾及其他。可自2020年新教材逐步投入使用以来，我常常在想：乡村的孩子在面对更地道、更复杂的语言表达时，该怎么办？比如，人教版高中英语选择性必修二 Unit 4 《Seeing the True North via Rail: Toronto and Montreal 》中，就有这样一句话：Youowe it to yourselvesto stay longer. Overall, Montreal is a city with wonderful sights and sounds.这句话里的 owe it to yourselves 该怎么理解和翻译？它不仅仅是字面上的“欠自己什么”，背后藏着一种典型的英语表达习惯和语用逻辑。下面，我从六个方面来拆解这个表达方式。一、语法结构

二、为什么用 it？
You owe to yourselves to stay longer. ❌
这是不自然的，因为to stay longer这个不定式太长，放在动词后面会让句子头重脚轻。三、其他常见搭配

说话者听说对方要离开（或待的时间不够），表达了遗憾并给出了强烈建议：暗示：你们已经在蒙特利尔了，既然来了，不多待几天太可惜了五、使用情景举例
